Shipping policy
Where we ship We ship to all 50 states. We don't ship live plants to U.S. territories or internationally at this time.
Processing time Orders are prepared for shipment within 2 to 5 business days. Plants are cured and packed by hand, and we hold shipments during periods of extreme heat or cold to protect them in transit. If weather delays your order, we'll let you know.
How your plants are shipped All plants ship bare-root, with no pot or soil. Removing the soil keeps the plant cleaner and lighter, reduces the risk of rot and pests in transit, and is genuinely easier on the plant than shipping it potted. Cuttings arrive callused and ready to root. Full care instructions are included with every order and are also on our care pages.
Shipping rates Shipping is a flat rate, so you know what it costs before you get to checkout:
Standard — $9.95, 2 to 5 business days
Expedited (USPS Priority Mail) — $16.95, 1 to 3 business days
Free standard shipping on orders of $99 or more
Rates are the same anywhere in the 50 states, with no surcharge for Alaska or Hawaii. Because plants ship bare-root, most orders stay light and inexpensive to send, and we'd rather keep the pricing simple than nickel you by the ounce.
Cold-weather protection When cold weather could reach your plant in transit, we include an insulated heat pack at no charge. There is nothing to add to your order and nothing to ask for. We include one whenever the forecast low at your destination is below 45°F on any day your order is expected to be moving.
When conditions are colder than packaging can reliably protect, meaning forecast lows below 20°F or a winter storm on the route, we hold your order and email you rather than ship into it. From November through March we also ship live plants Monday through Wednesday only, so no plant sits in a facility over a weekend.
We would rather send your plant a week late than replace a frozen one.
Carrier and tracking We ship via USPS. You'll receive tracking by email as soon as your label is created.
